4 Steps to Help Slow the Spread

Welcome back to campus, True Tigers! If you are a first-year or transfer student, welcome to the Mizzou family. And if you’re a returning student, welcome back home---it’s definitely been a while :) Let’s say it as it is. We are all trying to work together to keep our community safe. It’s hard at times, but we know it’s important and that we’re all in this together. Here are some of the best ways that we are able to keep yourself, your fellow Tigers, and the Columbia community safe and healthy.

1. Stay 6ft Apart

I know how hard it is to not hug someone that you have not seen in March. Trust me, I am a hugger. But being 6ft apart from one another is the first way to keep yourself and others healthy. It may seem difficult, but it is possible to build a strong community when far away. Be creative. Play games that don’t require close contact or tell funny stories to get to know other people better.

2. Wear Your Mask

Masks are the talk of the town! They are everywhere and everyone is wearing them so no need to feel singled out if you have your mask on. They come in all colors and patterns and you are definitely able to get one to match any color of clothes! Find them at Walmart, Target, Old Navy, Amazon---pretty much just about anywhere you can buy something. Make sure to pick up your “Care package” that Mizzou is gifting to everyone (you can grab yours from the Mizzou Store if you haven’t received one yet). And remember to cut off the ear straps on the disposable masks to protect our wildlife. #maskupmizzou

3. Wash Your Hands

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. A. B. C. D. E. However you want to count to 20, make sure you are washing your paws for at least 20 seconds with warm water and lots of hand soap! Clean hands mean spaces are safer for everyone. After you clean your hands, avoid touching your face and mouth to limit the spread of germs.

4. Monitor Your Symptoms

Each morning, make sure that you feel healthy and well enough to come to campus so as to not possibly expose your fellow classmates or professors. Download the #CampusClear app from the App Store and check in each morning to monitor any symptoms you may be experiencing.

These 4 simple steps are ways that we can do our own part in slowing the spread of COVID-19. It is difficult. It is tough. It is challenging. But we must support one another as we continue to learn and grow as a Tiger family. Check out https://renewal.missouri.edu/students/ for the full COVID-19 action plan. Stay safe and healthy, True Tigers! #TigersSupportTigers
