On Mizzou’s campus, there are over 700 organizations that students can choose to take part in. These organizations range from knitting to quidditch and extends even further. Somewhere between all of these is the True Tiger Network. The True Tiger Network grabbed my attention from the beginning - and here are five reasons why.
1. You’re joining one of Mizzou’s largest student organizations and one of the most time-flexible organizations.
Unlike other student organizations at Mizzou that require students to meet once a month, once a week, or attend early morning meetings, the True Tiger Network doesn’t require much of your time for membership! You’ll have access to all the benefits and great events sponsored by TTN and AASB without compromising your study - or, in my case, Netflix - time. Every event sponsored is optional, but any TTN member will tell you that every event is worth going to! You’ll want to go to the events because of the welcoming atmosphere, friendly members, and, usually, the free food.
2. You’re making professional and personal connections with students, faculty and alumni.
Mizzou has one of the most extensive and well known alumni bases, with alumni spanning all across the globe. TTN gives members exclusive opportunities to partake in events that give them a chance to meet some alumni and make connections for prospective jobs. Additionally, students and faculty you meet through the True Tiger Network can help you make both professional and personal connections across all departments and open up opportunities that you hadn’t known about before.
3. Free food and free T-shirts!
Football Fridays are Mizzou students' favorite event because every college student loves anything free! By being part of the TTN, you’ll have access to free food and free T-shirts on Fridays before select home football games. Some of my favorite shirts have been the Mizzou v. Georgia and the “Beat Vandy” T-shirts. Along with the FREE merch, you get to meet other TTN members who share your enthusiasm for Mizzou. (And did I mention the free food?!?)
4. You’ll experience Mizzou’s most time honored traditions first hand by being an active participant.
Like most student organizations, the True Tiger Network partakes in the traditions and the fun that Mizzou offers. From Homecoming to Mizzou ’39, TTN members are always participating in the fun traditions Mizzou has come to love.
5. It'll help you find your family at Mizzou.
I was drawn to Mizzou because of how big the school is, how many organizations there are, and the overall school spirit of students. But no one told me how overwhelming a big school can be when you’re away from home for the first time. During my first few weeks at Mizzou, I struggled to find my group and the organization I instantly clicked with. But because I joined the True Tiger Network, I was able to go to the events sponsored by AASB and meet other students who shared my love for Mizzou. Before long, I found my family and it was when I first felt like I was at home at Mizzou. By joining the True Tiger Network, you’re not just joining another organization to put on your resume, but you’re finding what makes Mizzou home to so many of its students.
