Senior Sendoff: The Sequel (How to prepare for Round 2!)

I don’t know about you, but I’m already missing last week’s Class of 2020 Senior Sendoff so much! There were just so many great things about it: the custom-made beer cans, the delicious gourmet popcorn, the Mizzou spirit, oh, and the fact that we were in person! It was also really special that we could recognize the Class of 2020 the same weekend they returned to campus for their commencement. But the best part of it all? We get to do it all over again!

That’s right! There will be another Senior Sendoff next Friday, May 7th to recognize the Class of 2021. It’s going to be SO epic, especially because we thought of some frequently asked questions and general reminders for the 1,000+ seniors attending this event. Keep reading to learn more on how to be as prepared as possible for Friday!

Q: I’m super excited about being back on campus for Senior Sendoff! I just got here and found a place to park, but I honestly have no idea where to go! What should I do?

A: Make sure to check in at Traditions Plaza prior to heading to the Columns for the program (about 15 minutes before your assigned time). There will be multiple stations set up on Carnahan Quad (Traditions Plaza) with AASB staffers waiting to help you out!

Q: What if I don’t have a valid state issued ID? Can I still get my drink ticket and wristband?

A: Unfortunately, no. You need your drink ticket and wristband so that you can get a beer at the end. You can still run, but you will not be able to get a drink. Hopefully you are reading this blog long before May 7th, meaning that there is still time for you to find your ID beforehand!

Q: We’re going to be running, so that means I don’t have to wear my mask, right?

A: Sorry to burst your bubble, but no. Wearing a mask is required for the entire event. #MaskUpMizzou

Q: Ok, so I have my drink ticket and wristband. What now?

A: After checking in at Traditions Plaza, head to Francis Quad (where the Columns and Jesse Hall are). The program will take place on Francis Quad in front of Jesse at your assigned time.

Q: Traffic on the way here was CRAZY! My time was scheduled for 30 minutes ago, and I missed it. Can I still run with another group?

A: Technically, yes. Please try your very best to be on time, but if you do happen to be late for some reason, make sure you still check in at Traditions Plaza, and we’ll get you situated.

Q: This might be a hot take, but I don’t really like the taste of beer. Is there anything else I can drink?

A: Yes! For our non-alcohol drinkers, we have a root beer station right beside our beer table! Feel free to exchange your drink ticket for an ice-cold root beer! A&W never fails!

Q: WOAH. Those beer cans are SO cool! Can I purchase them somewhere?

A: So happy to hear you like them! We are proud to boast that the cans were designed by MAA staffer Whitney Pierce. These Logboat Brewing Company cans are an exclusive, commemorative gift produced for this year’s Senior Sendoff participants, so they are not available for purchase.

Q: What should we do after we get our beer?

A: After you receive your popcorn and beer, please leave Francis Quad in order to make room for the next Senior Sendoff group.
