Study Date on the Quad

After one of the harshest winters in Missouri, spring is finally here, and Mizzou students are in a frenzy about it! The warm weather opens up endless opportunities for outdoor indulgence, my favorite being laying out on the Quad. However, we must not forget that we are in an academically strenuous time with finals quickly approaching. The perfect way to combat nearing deadlines while catching all of the rays is having a study session in the sun! It would be unfortunate if anyone made it all the way to the columns just to realize they forgot a necessary item and have to hike back to their dorm...but that’s just a hypothetical situation. For every Mizzou student, I’ve created a list of essentials for your day on the Quad!

1. A blanket is truly the base of the activity. But if you prefer to lay in the grass, then forgo it!

2. Quality playlists are key to get in the zone! Spotify does a fantastic job of curating mood playlists, but if you’re feeling extremely exploratory, SoundCloud is always an option.

3. Speaker. Again, for music purposes! Just be mindful of others enjoying the Quad and don't blast your tunes too loud.

4. Sunglasses are a must for sunny days outdoors.

5. The actual school work would probably be a good idea! Along with all the materials needed (laptop, textbooks, brain cells)

6. Snacks are key and luckily, the Quad is right by some awesome food options downtown.

7. Hydration is important and a water bottle is needed. I’ve discovered that you must be deliberate when choosing which water fountain to fill up at, but the student center is always a safe bet.

8. Having a portable charger comes in great convenience when you’re far from outlets and get in the grind!

9. A good book to read or game to play during breaks from the school work (or even after you’re all finished, but want to lay in the sun a little longer).

10. A good friend or two (or 30,000) to share the experience with! What’s better than time on the fabulous Francis Quadrangle with some good company?

Whether it’s on the Quad, downtown, or east campus, find places to enjoy this last month of the school year and the beautiful spring weather!
